School Profile

Brockton Avenue Elementary School is a Title I in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school was constructed in the early 1900's and is located in West Los Angeles in close proximity to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
 
The Brockton Avenue School community currently serves approximately 225 TK - 5th grade students in 9 general education classrooms and 4 special education classrooms.
 
Our diverse population is about 67% Hispanic, 18% White, 6% Asian, 1% Filipino, 5% Black, 3% other ethnicities. Of this population 41% are English Language Learners, and 2% are identified as gifted and talented.
 
The instructional program is structured to meet the needs of our diverse populations.We have a Resource Specialist on-site daily, a School Psychologist twice a week, a Speech Therapist daily, an Adaptive PE Teacher and an Occupational Therapist three times a week.
 
Our teachers have on-going collaborative instructional planning time to support the implementation of the Benchmark Literacy Program, Readers Workshop, Cognitively Guided Instruction Math Program (CGI Math), FOSS Next Generation Science, and the Scott Foresman Social Studies program. Social Emotional Learning is also emphasized and the implementation of Restorative Justice practices.
